I come from five generations of care and have worked both in the community and within care homes. During my time in the sector, electronic care recording systems were only just beginning to be introduced. We tried several different systems, and while each had its strengths, they all shared one common problem: they weren’t customisable enough.
Every care home across the UK operates slightly differently. Care plans and risk assessments are written and presented in different ways. Staff ratios and shift patterns vary, and each home has its own approach to daily recordings. How many daily observations should be completed? Should toilet records be kept for residents who are fully independent? Who records food and fluid intake? These are all decisions that differ from one home to another.
This is where my journey began. I decided to create a custom system for the care home I was working in at the time — and what started as a practical solution to a local problem eventually became the foundation for something much bigger.
